Your wedding day makeup is unique to any other makeup you’ll ever wear. With 20 years of experience in makeup for brides and grooms of all ages, skin tones, and types, I understand the desire to look your best on this special day. You’re wearing a beautiful dress, hairstyle, nails, and jewellery, so your makeup should complement everything else and vice versa.

A wedding day should feel extra special, more so than any other day.

Should you follow trends?

It’s natural to want to feel ‘up to date’, but it’s important to choose a trend that feels comfortable and timeless. You’ll want to love seeing yourself in your photos and videos in the years to come, so avoid embracing a passing trend that could make your wedding photos ‘date’ quickly.

The ideal look is a combination of classic beauty, current trends, and an extra touch of radiance.

Achieving perfect skin (or the look of) takes time and effort. I provide my clients with practical advice on skincare products and routines, and I often refer to other professionals if needed. Giving my clients good advice on skincare routines months before the wedding day is crucial. I’ve seen brides delighted when their skin looks and feels much better, even before applying makeup on their wedding day.

Investing in skincare and good advice is an education and investment of time and money that provides you with a lifetime of healthy, youthful-looking skin.

My ultimate goal is to help clients reveal and enhance their most beautiful version of themselves by emphasising their best features. This may involve making eyes appear bigger and stand out (not literally), making noses appear slightly smaller or less obvious, lifting cheekbones, eyebrows, and sparkling, fuller lips, and achieving a glowing, radiant skin look without looking oily. Reducing undereye dark circles or bags is also important.

While expensive products can often provide the best results, I don’t believe they’re always necessary. In my experience, premium brands generally have long-lasting staying power than cheaper alternatives, but some cheaper brands can offer just as good a result. I carefully select products and brands from all over the beauty marketplace to ensure the best possible results for my clients.

Some premium products I test out and eventually stop using because they don’t meet my expectations, while others become staples that I can’t work without until I try something better. I’m always looking for new and improved formulas because I want to achieve the best possible results for my clients.

When I’m considering repurchasing a product, I look for several factors. First, I want to ensure that it’s effective and does what it claims to do. Second, I want to enjoy applying it. It should be easy to use and have a good finish. Third, I want my client to love the way it looks. I pay close attention to colour, shade, and formula, and I make sure that it feels good on the skin. Finally, I want to ensure that it complements my other makeup products.

I also test products on my clients to see how they hold up to different wear tests. I want them to feel confident and comfortable, not like they need to retouch their makeup throughout the day. I don’t want my clients to feel like they’re wearing makeup; I want them to feel like they’re wearing their best self.

Are there specific colour palettes to complement brides?

Yes, there are. I work with brides to create a colour palette that complements their skin tone and features. I also consider their personal style and preferences when choosing a colour palette, as well as the shades and style of the wedding details, such as flowers, and the time of year and location of the wedding.
Everyone thinks of the ‘blushing bride’, but this may not suit everyone, although a healthy, radiant complexion is essential. I consider you in your comfort zone and suggest trying something new that may look better on you, like making your eyes pop.

My professional kit is extensive in tones, shades, and formulas, so I can tailor exactly to my clients’ liking and personal preference. At your pre-wedding trial session, we’ll try out different elements to ensure the best possible result on the day.

Each wedding day is special, and I feel privileged to work with anyone for their occasion. My job isn’t just a vocation; it’s a special bond of trust between me and my client.
